Dropped the rating don a notch... Been here about 5 or 6 times now. Drinks still weak, food still pretty good but... This time we decided to go for TexMex food. We were sat down at a dirty table in a booth with a rip in it. Not very classy. We got the table cleaned and noticed a flyer on the table that says to text and get either a free margarita or a free desert. Well I already had a house margarita at this point and it was kinda' weak so I texted the number and got me a free margarita. Waitress returns with a "mini" Margarita, much smaller that the standard house margarita. Heck, if I knew they would do that, maybe I would have ordered a free desert instead? So I was not impressed with the bait and switch. Never am I. Then ordered Pork Carnitas but they were greasy and lacked much flavor. (By the way, I LOVE pork carnitas but these didn't do it) Ate half of it, called it a night. Wife got Chimichanga. I guess they serve it "dry". No cheese or sauce or even some sour cream. No guacamole, just a fried chimi on the plate with the advertised sides. Three stars is generous. Will update if we return. Next time we'll likely drive to LaBamba.

Great Mexican food! Excellent choice for lunch, specials are full meals for around $ 6 each. Most come with rice and beans, free chips and salsa. The two of us walked out for under $ 15. Great service too.

Had the Asada Burrito for lunch. Tasted good and the wait was minimal. My only complaint is that when I asked about the Chimichanga plate and substituting the meat with steak, I was told that was not an option. Charge me extra, I really don't care, but the goal should be to satisfy the customer.

If you ever have a cold and need an AWESOME chicken soup (caldo de pollo) to heal your soul.... This is it!

Best authentic mexican food in Royal Palm Beach but they are not shellfish allergy friendly. Their salsa is amazing and the chicken taquitos are very flavorful

Great customer service and tasty authentic food! Their serving size is pretty decent.

Best margaritas, pork carnitas, and carne asada. Chicken mole was also really good. Haven't found better mexican food in the area.

Stopped in and had a drink with a friend, drinks were good and cold, but after we left, the bar tender added 3 more dollars to his tip on my credit card. Moral of the store enjoy your food and drinks, but keep a close eye on your bank account.

Decent Mexican close to us is kind of hard to find. We're no strangers to traveling for good food but sometimes it's nice to drive down the street and have something other than a chain. This place is affordable, close, and delicious! I've had the chicken enchiladas with red sauce which were good. Then I had the enchiladas del mar (shrimp) and they were fresh and so good. Boyfriend has had tacos, burritos, etc and enjoyed them all as well. The free chips and salsa are good as well as the queso. Skip the nachos, nothing special. Drinks and service were satisfying as well.

YUM YUM YUM!!!! Like always. Stopped by for a late dinner with my boyfriend. Delicious as always!!! We ordered the queso dip, asada burrito, and carne asada dinner. AMAZING!!! Their queso blanco is the absolute best!!! And their salsa was even better. Great food, great atmosphere. We love this place.

The food is what saved this visit; here's the quick recap... Seated immediately...BAMM! Greeted by waitress within 2 mins... BAMM! Drink order taken and received straight away...BAMM! Ordered when we received drinks...BAMM! ~FAST FORWARD ALMOST 30 MINUETS~ Server comes to table and states it will just be a bit longer as they got busy really quick... that's nonsense. We were seated immediately (6:15?) as there were several open table in the main area and I counted at least 5 other empty booths upon our arrival. Also, there was a 12-top in the center of the room, all of whom already had the meals. That along with the empty tables was likely a 1/4 to a 1/3 of their seating capacity removed from the equation, so how is "suddenly busy" an excuse? I am sure the waitress was covering for a slow kitchen staff, but i'd bet the servers likely hit the kitchen with too many tickets at once, but 30 minutes is inexcusable. Not sure who to blame, but don't care really, as the food was really (I mean really) good. The menu on their web site was slightly different then the one presented (Lunch vs. Dinner?), but it's your standard Mexican fare. We are definately retuning, and on our next visit, if the kitchen can get its ticket time under 15 minutes, I'll add a star :)

Food was good Our waitress Jennifer was horrible. We should have realized when another table of hers had to get their own silverware. We did get ours but had to ask for it after the food was served to us. No refill on my drink. We had to finally ask another girl for our check. Jennifer did bring it then walked away again. I left money on the table and walked out. Not sure if we will go back. Surely will never sit in her area. Be sure you don't either.

I've been here 3 times now. Which is my general rule of thumb before writing a review. This place is over priced on every menu item I have tried. The nachos for $9.95 comes with no guacamole or sour cream. They had 13 chips on the plate and were smothered in cheese and tons of chicken. But by the time the plate hits the table the chips are mush. the chimichanga is just meat wrapped in a tortilla and fried no other ingredients in it. Again no sour cream come with this $10 dish. It is served with rice and beans, but is not great in flavor. The last thing I tried was the tacos which like the nachos arrived at the table mush. I picked up the taco and everything fell out on to the plate. The flavor is lacking along with execution of the dish. You combine that with the high prices and it's just not worth it. I highly recommend the extra drive for better quality and pricing.

So I ordered 8 burritos and as I am ordering the lady on the other end had to keep on asking someone if the can make a veggie burrito and a surf and turf? Every Mexican restaurant makes those 2 types of burritos!! So after 5 mins on the phone she still couldn't get the order right. I show up to pick up the food and the order was wrong!! Missing 2 burritos. After waiting I asked for salsa to go and the girls said she would have to charge me for it !! Not very good customer service !!! Order is wrong salsa should be free !!!

The food was great! The staff was really nice, we had a great waitress. So much food and the free chips and salsa were a plus. The place was also very clean and neatly decorated. I will definitely return.

Its been hard to find a good mexican restaurant in the area, we've been to many places in the palm beaches but have been unimpressed.... till now. My girlfriend and I tried several dishes here and all of them were very good and authentic. I highly recommend Los Agaves to anyone.

  • Alissa B.

The food here is consistent and good. The staff is friendly and there aren't really many Mexican places in the area. The prices are decent for what you get.

This is my go to take out spot. I've only eaten inside once but it was clean and service was good. Their food is good and it's a great value, good portion sizes.

Great Mexican food, generous portions. Only have been there a couple of times and have always been satisfied.

  • Adam B.

Consistency. Every dish will be the same every time. If you like it you are in. I always get the carne Asada burrito and it's good. The salsa is not my fav, but it grows on you. Chips are pretty good. Mariah H is the friendliest waitress from what I can gather. My wife gets the fajitas they are good, and my daughter eats the quesadillas. They are plump with shredded chicken if you like that. Prices are decent and worth it. There are some oddities with the menu like no plantains, but I don't eat them anyways( not a fan of mixing sweet and savory ftmp), though I will indulge in honey bean burritos at Baja cafe any chance I get. Overall, consistent.

Got takeout from here and it was fantastic! Some of the best Mexican food in the West Palm metro area. I had a chicken chimichanga (which was yummy) and it came with a tamale (which was the best ever). I highly recommend! Get the queso on the appetizer menu too, you won't be sorry.

I came here for a baby shower and it turned out really well. All of us were seated together at two long tables. We munched on chips and salsa for the appetizer and we had a choice to choose from 5 items. The items were carne asada, fajitas, fajita salad, fajita burrito, and quesadilla. I got the burrito filled with steak, onions, and peppers. The onions and peppers were dodged since I didn't know or want them in the burrito. It was huge along with the side of rice and beans that came with it as well. The food and service was good as well as the staff being accommodating to everyone.

  • Alex S.

Pretty mediocre food. Almost everything on the menu is the same which gives you the impression its like an assembly line. Service is good. I have to confess that I haven't tried enough of the local Mexican places to offer a better close-by recommendation. Most authentic Mexican I've discovered in the county so far is Tacos Al Carbon on Lake Worth road.

I visited Los Agaves for the first time last night after driving past routinely. The cleanliness, decor are really great and are definitely five stars. The staff was polite and they were definitely on task but I didn't like that there was no one to greet me as I entered the restaurant. Our waitress was great and I would give her 4 stars. The food was tasty and fresh but took a long time to come out which is only worth 1-2 stars. The major reason for this would be the extensive menu available. If the menu was reduced by half I am certain ticket times would decrease exponentially. One other note, the temperature inside was a bit warm. It was not so uncomfortable that I felt sick or overheated but it was warmer than most people wanted as I overheard two other tables discussing the warmth inside. Overall, the place was fine, the food was tasty but the heat, and delay in food times gives this place a 3.

Awesome place!! Food so fresh. Delicious. Very authentic. And affordable. The people are very nice. We love going there. Carne asada so tender

  • Gary A.

Recently went for lunch. Very disappointing. Chips were very plain and the salsa seemed out of the can with some onion mixed in. My two children ordered chicken strips and fries and the ketchup they brought was an "off brand" by Sysco! Why not Heinz? The food was very basic and seemed re-heated. Not sure if I will return.

Always fast service, great atmosphere, great food, they have low staff turnover. Spanish speaking. Has very good and consistent service. Order the Taco salad. The prices are reasonable too. The location has great parking and easy access.

Awesome Food. Super Burrito is the best burrito ever. Friendly service.

Good food, not a fan of their drinks though. The margaritas definitely need improvement, especially for a Mexican place. Love the carne asada and queso.

  • Jorge V.

Chips and Salsa are Indeed Good. Service was acceptable, there is always room for improvement, wouldn't hurt to check if customers are new and make some recommendations, server was nice but seems to be in a rush, didn't stop to check on the appetizer and went straight to ask if we were ready to order even when restaurant was food, like I said always room for improvement. Appetizer, Queso Dip, really good flavor and consistency I would recommend you guys to try it with some gbeef and pico de gallo. Meal, fajitas, overall flavor good, but the way the meat was chopped didn't help the cause, rice and beans good and sides were brought as I requested except for a side of tortillas that never made it to the table, again, place was empty. Quesadillas, good flavor I would have liked some more cheese on it. Now my favorite part of tonight's meal, bar looks good, good selection of beers and CHILLED MUGS, this is a major issue in a lot of restaurants doesn't matter the type of food and these guys nailed it. My phone went out of battery I couldn't take picture, I would go back again and give the servers a chance to redeem themselves. You should try it.

Great menu at great prices. This is the best Mexican food in the western communities. Go on a Saturday night and it's full of Mexican Americans. That's a great sign. And the margaritas are excellent, too. ¡Viva Mexico! (I'm Cuban decent)

  • Lien V.

Fresh warm chip and fresh salsa. I ordered super burrito. It was very heavy and tasty. The portion is big. I couldn't finish it all. Left the restaurant feeling stuffed. Friendly waiter.

Food was excellent and the service was great. The decor made it seem like a chain restaurant but the food tasted authentic.

I could walk to this place from my house if I had to, which it convenient. The food is okay, a little "safe", but we've been there more than twice, which says something. Great decor as well

Great service, I had a carne asada which was very good. I will definitely stop by again.

My wife and I enjoy this place the food actually has very good flavor to it.....one of the better Mexican restuarants in the area. Price and portion are excellent. Very nice and polite staff, service could be a touch faster but not going to hold that against them....give it a try

I agree with others that the chips are overcooked and the salsa too watery but after that all was perfection. Both food and service were very good. The restaurant is clean and the waitstaff was helpful & prompt. We are already making plans to meet friends there.

Lets start with the stale burnt chips and the day old muck salsa.to die for literally fall on the floor puke and call A ambulance. My brother got burnt flautas we laughed so hard and they were topped with parmesan yuck. Frozen beef in my chalupa could gag a magot. Must be drunk to eat. Garbage. 80 bucks for four people. Gross. Kitchen nightmare episode waiting to happen.let me be your guardian angel and steer you away from this place.dont make me have to say i told you so! Youll regret it.dont be fooled by 5 stars, that is a huge misleading joke.look in another direction.take care, dont eat here...ever.

Thought it would be nice to find another place to eat Mexican food. Sadly I was very disappointed!!!! :-( I've given this place a try for the fourth time. I know and realize that when you open a new restaurant, it takes some time to get the kinks out. Well this was my last time going there . The overall experience is good, the decor is nice and simple. People are polite but once you're seated it's game on for me. My review is based on service and food, the first thing you get is chips and salsa. We were greeted politely by the waiter; however the flavor of the salsa is inconsistent. Every time I have visited it hasn't been very good, sometimes salty, to much onion or just plain watery. The chips were way over cooked. I ordered the three enchilada dinner, two shredded beef and one chicken it comes with rice and beans. The shredded beef was good had a nice seasonings and flavor, the chicken was very plain no seasonings , the only thing that gave it flavor was the fact that it was dark meat. Dark meat is flavorful on its own. Rice was a bit dry and crunchy from seating on the steam table to long, not as fresh as it should be. The beans, well they tasted like they were out of a can with cheese on top. Now to the enchilada sauce it was too watered down and lacking flavor, way to much Paprika in it. We also ordered Steak Carnitas, the steak was very tender but lacked flavor in seasoning. Out of the kids menu we ordered the Taco ground beef crispy with rice and beans. The taco was soft on one side from sitting on the window to long. My grandson loves tacos he was very disappointed when he went to pick it up and it could not be picked up by hand it just fell apart. We were served and I had to wait for silverware to eat after they had brought our food out. I told the server about our meal and not once did she say or mentioned an apology. Manager never came to our table either to check on us. When I asked for the check they brought the wrong check. I love good food and good service, I tip very well 20-35 percent. I would hope that they correct their issues because we lack good places for Mexican food. Overall I would say try it and hope you enjoy it more. I have tried it four times and it just seems to be getting worse. Time to keep looking. Visited July 2013

Been here 3 times within the past 6 weeks. Every time it gets better! I love their enchiladas del mar. I ordered the crab and it's to die for! I will be ordering that again! Great service. Cheap Margaritas. What more can you ask for?

Great place. Clean, comfortable. Food is served on piping hot plates so it stays warm throughout the meal. Prices for lunch are hard to beat. Portions are large, and chips and salsa are great. We have always had exceptional service! Must try.

  • Mary R.

My husband, son and I went to Lis Agaves this past Saturday night. We loved the place. The salsa was delicious and our entrees were fantastic. I had shrimp ajo and the shrimp were large, plentiful and flavorful. My husband had tacos al carbon- delicious and my son had fajitas that were fresh and very flavorful. We will definitely go back soon. I'm really surprised by the negative review from Michael R. We were there around the same day and our experience was vastly different. I say give it a try- maybe you'll have an experience like my family did!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
